Each PACT leather goods handcrafted belt is 100% handmade by youth in Toronto ~ hand cut from top grain, vegetable tan cowhide, hand-dyed with water-based dyes, waxed, oiled and embellished with an antique brass buckle. The natural character and raw imperfections of the veg tan leather highlights the unique grain of each piece, ensuring a one-of-a-kind belt that improves with age and becomes more supple over time.
In the PACTPainting program, youth take part in a six-week training program where there are taught basic wall finishing and painting techniques. A nurturing training model with an emphasis on participation, punctuality, positive attitude and teamwork help to effectively integrate many at-risk youth into the job market.
After completion of the beginner program, youth are encouraged to take part in an advanced class, where they learn and work alongside experienced, reputable instructors. The most passionate and reliable students are paid honorariums while working on real job sites in the community.
Our PACT painting partners, run by long-time PACT instructors and professional painters/contractors, work with youth and provide on-the-job-training. The most committed are hired as employees or are equipped to find employment with other professional companies.
