We believe that outdoor playing, imagination and exploration are important tools for experiential learning and connecting with nature. Activities and workshops are based on seasonal changes and students will have the opportunity to get involved in the many aspects of growing beautiful, local organic food.
Students will be led through exercises and movements that re-enact plants, insects and the life cycles of garden animals. They are encouraged to play games through which they can explore all the magic that nature has to offer.
Workshops are typically 30-45 minutes long, so teachers can bank on taking up about half a period with each workshop. Some workshops have additional follow-up exercises that teachers can use to extend the content of the workshop into further classroom discussion or culminating activities.
Each school associated with a PACT Grow-to-Learn garden will also receive a binder with all the workshop outlines, which can be kept in the staff room or the office for offline reference.
PACT Grow-to-Learn garden workshops are free-of-charge.
